United Airlines to Launch a New International Route to the Caribbean
by Krish Patel
United Airlines will add a new country to its route network, which is very exciting. The Chicago-based airline has recently filed plans to launch weekly flights from its third largest hub at Newark Liberty International Airport to Douglas-Charles Airport, DOM, in Dominica.
UAL will deploy a Boeing 737-700 on the route, which will mark the first time this aircraft has operated regularly scheduled service to DOM. It features First Class recliners arranged in a 2-2 configuration and Economy Class seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration, the first few rows of which are Economy Plus.
This new route will take to the Friendly Skies on February 15, 2025. Service is scheduled to operate once a week on Saturdays. Once United begins flights to Dominica, it will be the only one of two U.S. carriers to fly to DOM, as it will join American Airlines’s existing service from Miami.
Flight UA2849 will depart Newark at 9:10 AM to arrive in Dominica at 2:39 PM, while the return leg, flight UA2848, will depart DOM at 3:45 PM to arrive at EWR around 7:51 PM local time.
This new route will help the Caribbean nation grow its tourism industry, as the northeast region of the country will be connected to Dominica. Convenience is a big factor when traveling. Rather than connecting through AA’s Miami hub, more people will be able to fly directly.
Newark to Dominica is a new route that’s exciting for United. After all, it’s the airline’s goal to unite the world via the Friendly Skies!
