A Review of the Luxurious Park Hyatt New York

by Krish Patel

As a Category 8 Hyattt property, the Park Hyatt New York is ranked as one of the best Hyatt hotels in the entire portfolio. With a gorgeous design, friendly service, spacious room accommodations, and a host of luxurious amenities, the hotel experience truly makes for it to be a memorable one. I was more than impressed during my stay and can conclude that this is the best Hyatt property in the U.S. Should this hotel’s luxurious offerings and its premium price be worth it?

Park Hyatt New York Location and Convenience

The Park Hyatt New York is situated within the One57 Building on West 57th Street. If you’re visiting New York, John F. Kennedy International Airport, JFK, is most likely the airport you’ll be flying into. You can easily take an Uber from any of the terminals to the hotel, which would easily last about 35 minutes. However, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty Airport are noticeably closer to the hotel by car.

I love the area of the hotel’s location because it’s within walking distance of landmarks such as Carnegie Hall and Central Park. There are also some good restaurants located nearby such as Nougatine by Jean-Georges (French Cuisine), Nobu57 (Japanese), and Quality Italian.

Park Hyatt New York Layout, Amenities, and Ambiance

If you’ve driven to the hotel, parking is very convenient. You can easily park on 58th Street, and there’s an entrance that leads directly into the hotel. The main entrance, however, is located on 57th Street.

Upon entering the hotel, you’ll notice the stunning ambiance, with golden walls and local artwork lining the corridor. There’s a table of flowers, as well as some stunning furniture at the entrance area. I’m a huge fan of the hotel’s contemporary and modern design.

Located above the entrance level is the lobby, with front desks and signage meant to direct guests to the hotel’s amenities. There’s also a comfortable seating area with plush furniture in a cozy ambiance. Note that the signage around the hotel lobby area for locating the spa and hair salon isn’t all that clear.

The Spa Nalai and the Rossini Ferretti Salon are both found on level eight. A variety of treatments are available at the spa, as well as some spa products available for purchase. The hair salon also offers several treatments and seems well-staffed.

On the 25th floor of the hotel is the pool and gym, both of which are modern and easily accessible. I love the NYC-inspired artwork resembling skyscrapers that’s found near the fitness area and the pool.

The swimming pool is half the size of an Olympic pool, next to which is a hot tub. Located above the pool is a focal point that’s of a chandelier. There’s also plenty of seating within the vicinity of the pool, as well as towels and bottles of water. Found above the pool, the gym offers plenty of equipment, including a variety of stationary cardio machines and weights.

The Park Hyatt New York Hotel Suite

Hyatt offers four types of rooms at the Park Hyatt New York, consisting of Standard Rooms, Club Rooms, Standard Suites, and Premium Suites. I stayed in one of the Premium Suites, which offers more space than a Standard Suite.

The Premium Suite I stayed in is composed of two rooms, both of which are very similar. Each room comes with its own seating area and offers a spectacular view of the city. Though you may be tempted, don’t take home any of the plush pillows with you that are found on the couches. Having a lamp also adds a lot of coziness.

The desk is a great size to get some work done, which is to be expected in any hotel suite. Near the desk is a large TV, which you’ll probably ignore thanks to the dramatic NYC views.

The Premium Suite I stayed in comes with three beds, two of which are twin-sized. The bed is quite comfortable and includes a thick blanket. For additional guests staying in the suite, the couch can be turned into a bed.

Next to each of the beds is a nightstand, with plenty of table space. Above the stand is a reading light, as well as USB charging outlets.

Located near the bathroom is a mini bar, which is well-stocked. There’s a variety of snacks and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. You’ll also find an espresso machine and a selection of coffees and teas.

At the opposite side of the room is a safe, which can be unlocked by using a four-digit code. Unlike a typical safe in a hotel room, I enjoyed the unique luggage-like appearance of the safe.

The bathroom in the suite is a spacious size and seemed clean. There are two large sinks, beneath which is a drawer for personal storage.

In terms of amenities, there’s a hair dryer, cotton swabs, cue tips, rinsing glasses, and Hyatt’s signature Le Labo skin care products, including soap and hand cream.

There’s also a toilet and a shower. The toilet room is a spacious size, as is the shower space. I was satisfied with the temperature and water pressure in my shower. There’s also a shower stool, as well as Le Labo soap products.

My favorite part of the bathroom is the tub, which is a generous size for one person. Other than bath salt, there wasn’t any dedicated bath soap. You’re also provided with a shower cap.

In the suite, storage isn’t an issue because there are several storage closets equipped with hangers and are good for storing clothes. There’s even enough space for storing luggage.

Park Hyatt New York Food and Drink

At the Park Hyatt New York, room service is available. However, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at The Living Room, the single lobby restaurant this hotel has to offer. Breakfast is free for World of Hyatt Globalist elite members, otherwise, you’ll have to pay.

The overall ambiance of the restaurant is modern, with a stunning full-service bar complete with a hanging focal point. There’s cozy seating for guests to enjoy, with several variants to choose from, including couches and plush chairs. I love the gray color palette that was used in the restaurant, giving it a luxurious ambiance.

I was impressed with the food selection available at The Living Room, with a variety of sweet and savory breakfast dishes. The drink selection, consisting of hot and cold beverages, was lengthy. However, there is no buffet service, unlike some other five star hotels I’ve stayed at recently. I ordered an eggs benedict and a decaf iced latte, both of which were really good.

Park Hyatt New York Service

I was satisfied by the service offered during my stay. The staff were friendly and acted professionally. During my breakfast, the service wasn’t rushed, nor was it too slow.

Booking the Park Hyatt New York

At a per nightly rate, prices for the Park Hyatt New York start at around $700 and can fluctuate well above $1,000 for a Standard or Premium Suite. Paying the expensive price can be avoided by booking using your points and miles. A third option would be to book through a travel portal such as Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts or Chase Travel.

World of Hyatt is often viewed as one of the most valuable Chase transfer partners because Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. There are also occasional transfer bonuses which can give you an even better value for redeeming points. Unlike most other hotels, Hyatt publishes an award chart, rather than dynamic pricing, which helps guests know the amount needed for a redemption.

Are you a Hyatt loyalist that’s looking to maximize your Hyatt purchase for a future stay at the Park Hyatt New York? Well, consider using the World of Hyatt Credit Card or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card for your booking. Each of the mentioned cards comes with the following welcome bonuses:

● World of Hyatt Credit Card: Earn 30,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first three months of account opening plus another 30,000 Hyatt points by earning two points per dollar spent on purchases in the first six months of account opening, on up to $15,000 spent

● World of Hyatt Business Credit Card: Earn 60,000 World of Hyatt bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening

If you’re not a Hyatt loyalist or elite member, consider using an Ultimate Rewards-earning credit card, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($550 annual fee), Chase Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee), or the Ink Business Preferred ($95 annual fee). Each of the three cards comes with decent earning rates and good welcome bonuses that can go towards your next hotel stay.

Overall Thoughts

I really enjoyed my stay at the Park Hyatt. From the outstanding service, to the luxurious room, I’d say that booking a stay here was worth it. Being able to relax in the hot tub, hit the machines in the gym, or enjoy a delicious breakfast at The Living Room, would deliver an unparalleled amount of luxury compared to staying at another property in New York. Practically, nothing is perfect. However, the Park Hyatt New York is as perfect as staying in the city gets, and the hotel certainly provides a break from the hectic hustle and bustle of New York.
