With More than 100 Airlines, TSA PreCheck is Expanded
by Krish Patel
Now, more travelers than ever who don’t enjoy dealing with long security lines at crowded airports will not have to wait in a regular queue.
Recently, on July 1, 2024, TSA (Transportation Security Administration) added four airlines to the TSA PreCheck program. They are Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Saudia, and Ethiopian Airlines. Each of these carriers is the flagship airline of their country. More passengers who are headed to Europe, Asia, and beyond can enjoy this benefit.
TSA has an expedited security program at various airports across the United States that travelers with these airlines can enjoy. Travelers part of the program won’t have to wait in packed lines, remove liquids or large electronics from carry-on luggage, and won’t be required to remove belts, shoes, and jackets. Having TSA PreCheck is a useful benefit and can make the airport experience less stressful by saving a lot of time in the airport.
TSA PreCheck is available at more than 200 airports across the United States. Over the recent years, the program has become more popular, with more than 18 million passengers currently enrolled.
Despite the increasing popularity for the expedited security program, the agency has still kept the wait times low for the security program. About 99% of travelers enrolled in PreCheck spend 10 minutes or less in security checkpoints at airports.
Travelers that are members of the TSA PreCheck program are issued a Known Traveler Number, which is a nine digit code received upon approval from either PreCheck or Global Entry. Please be aware that the renewal of Global Entry these days are around eight months. When booking a flight with an airline that participates in the program, travelers can apply that number in their flight booking.
